District Five Sports and Activities
Council Mission Statement

To create recreational opportunities for our
citizens that enhance the image of the area
and promote citizen involvement with a
strong sense of pride in the community while
striving to increase the social, cultural, and
physical well-being of all its residents.

HISTORY

• Formed as District 5 Youth Football
Association more than 11 years ago

• originally we had less than 200
participants

• Currently we have 458 participants in
football/cheerleading only

• The success of the league was based on the
structure. The League is led by a Board of
Directors (not coaches).
• Other sports coaches have mentioned
wanting to form a youth league with the
same structure as the football league.
• In March of 2010 we met to join the
following sports under the same umbrella:

Wrestling
Volleyball
Basketball
Cheerleading

The combination led to the formation of the
District 5 Sports and Activities Council

Formed a new Non-profit Corporation

We have a goal to form a unique partnership
with District 5 Schools, surrounding Towns,

DREAMS

Community Pride
“Systems Theory”

We all rely on independent systems to function together.
How can we make a better community?
1. Family - the primary nurturers of children.
2. Medical care - children need medical care. Healthy
children make good citizens.
3. Education - an absolute requirement that enhances all
other functions. Educated children make good citizens.
4. Recreation – children need more exercise. We can
ensure healthy active citizens with our programs.
Healthy citizens make good citizens.
5. Government/law enforcement- law abiding citizens
make for a better community.
D5 SAC interconnects 4 of the 5 components to community
development with no additional taxes/costs. We want our
area to be as strong and vibrant as possible.
