Will my child have to wrestle kids that are bigger or older?

Generally No. Wrestlers are first grouped by age (6 & Under, 8U, 10U, 12U & 15U), then they are grouped into 5 pound weight classes. There are some rare exceptions in weight classes where there are not enough wrestlers to compete, but you will always have the final say if you are not comfortable. We want your child to have a good experience and not be intimidated. Wrestling is a very controlled sport. AGES AND WEIGHT DIVISIONS

How long does the wrestling season last?
Practices start November 1, but the season kind of slows down during the holidays. The season is most active in January and February with most of the biggest local tournaments during that time. They are generally finished by mid February. There are individual upper state and state championships that are held in March for those that want to continue. We understand that some wrestlers will leave when spring sports begin and that is not a problem. Tournament Schedule- Optional

Are there additional charges for the tournaments?
Yes. Each tournament costs $13 per weight class they enter. Tournaments are entirely optional although we strongly recommend that they go to at least 5 local tournaments. We hope to host free team vs team events held throughout the season depending on scheduling with other teams.

What other equipment will need to be purchased? ie, shoes, pads, headgear, etc.
Just wrestling shoes. Headgear and knee pads are optional. We have headgear for sale if a parent wants to purchase it.
